More Info About Papapa Plantation:

Papapa Ohana House

Papapa Plantation’s six private acres sit on top of a hill at the south end of Papohaku Beach, on the West end of Molokai. The main family, or Ohana, house consists of a very large great room with four private bedroom suites. The four suites are located in two separate 2-story sleeping villas (one up and one down). The sleeping villas are attached to the northwest and southeast corners of the Ohana house. They are connected to the Ohana house via screened covered walkways. Each suite contains a king sized bed, phone, and private bathroom. The suites are surrounded by large screened and covered Lanai’s. All four suites also have an extra cot, or folding mattress, which are suitable for children. This provides a maximum sleeping capacity of 8 adults and 4 children. All four suites have great ocean views, Lanai chairs and tables.

The Ohana house is a Polynesian long house constructed out of Canadian Cedar in the traditional Hawaiian “post and beam” style. It features 27ft high vaulted ceilings above 14ft high cedar walls, oak and tile floors and a large open Lanai facing West overlooking the pool with ocean views, sunsets and Oahu’s Diamond Head off in the distance. There is a large gourmet kitchen with a cook top island overlooking a large dining and living area.

The kitchen includes a dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator with icemaker and filtered water dispenser. The kitchen comes with all standard cooking utensils and place settings for up to 16 people.

The dining table can seat 10-12 people. There is also a half bathroom and wet bar located in the main gathering area. The initial supply of soap, paper towels and toilet supplies are included. Linens, bath towels and beach towels are also provided. Off the kitchen there is a covered and screened Lanai area with a large gas grill and a separate laundry room with washer and dryer.

Other amenities in the Ohana house include, a phone/answering machine, office jet printer with usb cable (copy, fax, scan etc.), 27” TV with a DVD/VCR combo, satellite TV via the Dish Network, numerous board games, puzzles, library of VHS tapes, and a Sony stereo with a 5 disc CD player located in the bar area. Speakers are located inside and out so you can listen to your favorite music on the deck or in the pool or Jacuzzi.

There are large covered Lanai’s on both the front entrance and the back of the Ohana House. The back Lanai has beautiful ocean views and overlooks a large deck, a private in-ground swimming pool, Cabana with refrigerator, and 6-8 person Jacuzzi spa. It’s also a great place to watch the sunset or stargaze at night. There are Lanai chairs all around the pool and deck for relaxing and sun bathing.

Papapa Cottage

Papapa Plantation Cottage is located near the Ohana House. It is approximately 800 Square feet consisting of a main living area, a master bedroom room with a walkout to a private patio, a full bath, kitchen and loft.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and a large closet. The loft has a desk and a full size futon bed for extra room. There is a deck with ocean views located off the back of cottage that has a large gas grill for cookouts. A 4 person Jacuzzi and large rope hammock are just a couple of feet from the deck where you can enjoy the evening watching the sunset or stargazing.

Other amenities include a washer & dryer, 27" TV, DVD/VCR combo, Stereo with a CD changer, beach chairs, coolers, refrigerator with icemaker, dishwasher, microwave, gas grill, all cookware, as well as dishes and utensils for 8 place settings. There is a phone for local calls (see contact information for number). Cell phones tend to work very well at Papapa, but it depends a lot on your provider. Linens (including bath and beach towels) and an initial supply of soap and paper goods are included.

Ohana House and Cottage

The Ohana house and Cottage are located on the west end of the island, so you also get to see amazing sunsets from almost anywhere on the property while listening to the waves. Papohaku beach is just down the hill about 300 yards. It is the largest white sand beach in all of Hawaii, but don’t be surprised if you have it all to yourself. If for any reason you would rather drive to the beach, there is a service road (see faq’s for directions) that will get you get you there as well. Driving, of course, makes it easier to pack up and transport the Papapa beach chairs, cooler and other beach items. So take off your shoes, relax and enjoy your stay on Molokai. Experience life as it should be!
